The suspect in a fatal Oconto County hit and run over the weekend was arrested in Arkansas.

At about 7 pm Friday, authorities were called for a two-vehicle crash involving a UTV and a SUV on Shawano Line Road at Nelson Road in the town of Gillett.

The driver of the ATV, 60-year-old Thomas Roberts of Green Bay, was struck by a SUV. Lifesaving measures were attempted; however, Roberts died on scene.

Roberts was a retired officer with the Green Bay Police Department. In a Facebook post Monday, GBPD wrote, in part:

Our hearts are heavy at the Green Bay Police Department. Tom was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind and caring spirit shone brightly, and he always went out of his way to help others.
Tom held his brothers and sisters in blue close to his heart, and his dedication to service was truly inspiring… Tom’s legacy will live on in the hearts of many, and he will be dearly missed.

Authorities believe Obilio Thomas Sargento Robrelo, 32, of Gillett, was the driver of the SUV.

Robrelo left the scene on foot after the crash.

After exhaustive law enforcement efforts, Robrelo was located and arrested at a hotel in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

According to the sheriff’s office, Robrelo is currently incarcerated at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility awaiting extradition back to Oconto County.
