Clarence Jones Death: A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in Harlem early Thursday
A 16-year-old kid was tragically shot in Harlem early Thursday, leaving his father crying with sadness at the scene, saying his son had been “taken” away.
Clarence Jones was shot in the chest around 1:37 a.m. at West 124th Street and Lenox Avenue, according to the NYPD.
First responders rushed the boy to NYC Health and Hospitals Harlem, where he was declared dead.
Jones’ father fainted at the scene, crying out that his teenage son had been “taken” from him, according to heartbreaking images.
It was unclear whether the father observed the shooting or came after it occurred.
When contacted by NYPost, the devastated father declined to speak on his son’s death.
The medical examiner will determine Jones’ official cause of death.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
It’s unclear whether the teen was targeted.
Police are looking for two individuals riding Razor scooters, according to sources.
Later Thursday morning, several relatives and family friends were spotted crying and consoling one other outside the building where Jones’ father and paternal grandmother live, not far from the crime scene.
“We’re not sure about a target. We have no idea about anything.”All we know is that someone murdered our nephew,” Jones’ aunt, Desiree Murray, told The Post in tears.
“He was a sweet kid…”He was just caught up in the wrong crowd, whatever, but overall, he was a good kid,” she explained.
“His future goal was to attend school, do the right thing, and establish a life for himself. His life was cut short because of that fucking imbecile.
“His father fought for his son,” she explained.
Aunt Dennille House admitted that she had no idea where Jones was headed when he was shot.
